'Charlie Brown' coming to Monmouth University

Monmouth University is getting a little help from Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus and the rest of the gang as it kicks off its Shadow Lawn Stage summer season.

"You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown" will be presented in the Lauren K. Woods Theatre starting on June 23 and running through July 2. This production celebrates the 50th anniversary of the original off-Broadway production.

The Pensacola Little Theatre is hosting auditions today for the musical, “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown.”

The award-winning musical features vignettes and songs inspired by the comic strip "Peanuts" by Charles M. Schulz.

The cast includes both professional actors and Monmouth University students.  Actors Equity Association members Nick Zaccario and James T. Saunders play Charlie Brown and Snoopy, respectively, while AEA candidates J.D. Ricafort and Sarah Beth Andrews play Schroeder and Sally. Students Evan Kudish and Erin Clemente play Linus and Lucy.

The show features music, book and lyrics by Clark Gesner, with additional dialogue by Michael Mayer and additional music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa.

"You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown" plays at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and at 3 p.m. Sundays through July 2. 

Tickets are $30, $20 for seniors and $10 for students. They are available by calling the box office at 732-263-6889 or visiting monmouth.edu/arts.
