Monmouth University Criminal Justice Honor Society Hosts K-9 Fundraiser

Monmouth University’s Alpha Phi Sigma Criminal Justice Honor Society will host the 3rd Annual “Paws for a Cause” Vest a K-9 fundraiser on February 19, 2014. The event will be held from 2:30 to 4 p.m. in The Rebecca Stafford Student Center, Anacon Hall. Admission is free and open to the public.

Demonstrations provided by the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Units will showcase each dog’s specialized training in suspect apprehension, narcotics and explosive detection, as well as obedience. Officers will explain their unique role in law enforcement and answer questions from the audience.

Along with the demonstration, there will be door prizes and baked goods for sale. Monetary donations are greatly appreciated, and all proceeds will be used to purchase K-9 bulletproof vests.  The event is sponsored by The Monmouth University Alpha Phi Sigma National Criminal Justice Honor Society, Omega Theta Phi chapter.

Alpha Phi Sigma recognizes academic excellence of undergraduate and graduate students of Criminal Justice, as well as Juris Doctorate students. The Goals of Alpha Phi Sigma are to honor and promote academic excellence, community service, educational leadership, and unity. Alpha Phi Sigma is the only Criminal Justice Honor Society that is a certified member of The Association of College Honor Societies and affiliated with The Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences.
