Monmouth University Student Elected to Executive Board of Young Democrats of America College Caucus

Monmouth University political science major Daniel Roman was elected to the executive board of the Young Democrats of America (YDA) College Caucus last month. Dan attended the 2013 Biennial Convention of YDA in San Antonio, Texas from August 7 to August 12 where he was chosen to serve a two-year term as vice chair of political affairs.

Daniel Roman, a resident of Wanaque, also serves as co-captain of the Monmouth University Debate Hawks and president of the pre-law club. This summer he worked as a “Buono Fellow” for State Senator Barbara Buono’s campaign for Governor.

Dr. Joseph Patten, chair of the political science and sociology department, stated: “Dan is a natural leader who routinely places the interests of others ahead of his own. He has a tireless work ethic, is intellectually curious, and is determined to bring positive change through politics. He is an inspiration to people of all political stripes.”

Roman is currently working to organize the Monmouth Young Democrats to become an official club on campus so they can become more involved with the University. He will attend the YDA Fall 2013 Conference in Seattle this November.

The Young Democrats of America (YDA) is the largest youth-led, national, partisan political organization. YDA mobilizes young people under the age of 36 to participate in the electoral process, influences the ideals of the Democratic Party, and develops the skills of the youth generation to serve as leaders at the local and national level.
