Thursday, April 10, 2014 8-10 p.m.

Location: Young Auditorium, Bey Hall

Spanning seven years, “My So-Called Enemy” follows Palestinian and Israeli teenage girls who participated in a women’s leadership program in New Jersey called Building Bridges for Peace. It documents how the transformative experience of knowing their “enemies” as human beings collides with the realities of their lives in Palestine and Israel. The heart and mind-opening film presents the complexities of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict through a human lens and opens up the possibility for hope that comes from listening to each other’s stories. Viewers will have the opportunity to dialogue with Lisa Gossels, the dynamic director of this award-winning documentary.

This film will be shown as part of Prof. Saliba Sarsar’s “Comparative Politics of the Middle East” class. It is sponsored by the Monmouth Center for World Religions and Ethical Thought (MCWRET), the Monmouth Dialogue Group, and the U.S. President’s Interfaith Initiative at Monmouth University. A continental breakfast will be served.
