{"id":5083,"date":"2024-07-15T17:05:50","date_gmt":"2024-07-15T21:05:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/technology\/?page_id=5083"},"modified":"2026-01-15T15:27:29","modified_gmt":"2026-01-15T20:27:29","slug":"technology-on-move-in-day","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/technology\/technology-on-move-in-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Technology on Move-In Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"login-information\">Login Information<\/h2>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Your username is your seven-digit student ID number preceded by an \u201cs\u201d (e.g., s0123456@monmouth.edu).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This username is your network login and will allow you to connect to <strong>myMU<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/my.monmouth.edu\/\">my.monmouth.edu<\/a>), the University\u2019s portal, where you can access your student email, enrollment and financial information, course information, and eCampus (<strong>Login Required<\/strong> for all the above).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To <strong>activate<\/strong> your MU login or <strong>reset your password<\/strong> for all University systems, call the automated password reset system at <strong>732-923-4600<\/strong> and enter your student ID number and the requested information as specified. (For access to email and eCampus, MFA is also required, see below).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"multifactor-authentication-mfa-twostep-verification-for-email-access\">Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) (Two-Step Verification for Email Access)<\/h2>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To configure or update your MFA, login to <strong>myMU&gt;Systems&gt;Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&nbsp;You can also update your MFA from your student email account.\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Sign in to <strong>office.monmouth.edu<\/strong> using your student email address (e.g., s0123456@monmouth.edu)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go to your initials in the top right corner and click on them to open the menu, Select <strong>View Account<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on the tile for <strong>Security Info &#8211; Update Info<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Note: If you install the Microsoft Authenticator app and plan to upgrade your device, you must reconfigure MFA to avoid losing access to eCampus and email. For help, contact the Help Desk at (732) 923-4357.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"connecting-a-wireless-device-no-game-consoles-smart-tvs-and-speakers\">Connecting a Wireless Device (No Game Consoles, Smart TVs and Speakers)<\/h2>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>MU-Secure and eduroam require WPA2-Enterprise encryption.<\/strong> Your device <strong>MUST<\/strong> support this encryption type to connect!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>While most devices will support this, the following do not:  game consoles, smart TVs, and speakers\/assistants (e.g., Amazon Echo, Apple HomePod, Google Nest, etc.) . (See &#8220;<a href=\"#wired\">Connecting a Wired Device<\/a>&#8221; below)\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/technology\/support\/configuring-your-mobile-device\/\">Connectivity Instructions for Wireless Devices<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Under the section <strong>Support<\/strong>, select <strong>Configuring Your Mobile Device<\/strong> for information on configuring Android, Apple (iOS, macOS), and Windows devices.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Important:<\/strong> Any device that interferes with the campus network will be disabled. <strong>This includes <strong>wireless routers, switches, and hubs<\/strong>.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"wired\">Connecting a Wired Device (Game Consoles, Smart TVs)<\/h2>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If your device does NOT support a WPA2-Enterprise wireless connection, you must connect these devices using an <strong>Ethernet cable <\/strong>(available for purchase at the Monmouth University Store) to connect to the network port in your room (blue wall connector; red is for telephone).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/technology\/new-to-mu\/register-your-game-console\/\">Instructions on myMU portal<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"personal-printers\">Personal Printers<\/h2>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Connect directly to your computer via a USB cable, as wireless printing to a personal printer is not supported.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If it is wireless, the Wi-Fi feature must be disabled to prevent interference with the wireless network.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"update-your-emergency-notification-settings\">Update Your Emergency Notification Settings<\/h2>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Update your contact setting(s) for notification of weather closures and emergency information.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Emergency Notification System is located online at <a href=\"https:\/\/notify.monmouth.edu\">notify.monmouth.edu<\/a> (Login Required).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can elect to receive notifications by email, text, and\/or telephone.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"getting-help\">Getting Help<\/h2>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Contact the <strong>Information Management Help Desk<\/strong> for technology assistance:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Email: <a href=\"mailto:helpdesk@monmouth.edu\">helpdesk@monmouth.edu<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Telephone: <strong>(732) 923-4357 (HELP)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Help Desk is normally available Monday through Friday (hours vary). For current hours, check the <strong>myMU<\/strong> portal under the section <strong>Offices &amp; Services&gt;<a href=\"https:\/\/my.monmouth.edu\/OfficesServices\/helpdesk\">Help Desk<\/a>.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"software-free-and-discounted\">Software Free and Discounted<\/h2>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Students may download Office 365 (Mac or Windows) for use. Instructions for installing the software and managing licenses are available within the <strong>myMU<\/strong> portal under the section <a href=\"https:\/\/my.monmouth.edu\/fyi\/Pages\/default.aspx\">&#8220;For Your Information&#8221;<\/a>. Select <strong>&#8220;Install Office on Home Computer.&#8221;<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Office apps may also be available through your app store for tablet and phone use.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>MU has partnered with vendors for many hardware and software discounts available from the <strong>myMU<\/strong> portal, under the section <strong>For Your Information&gt;More<\/strong>\u2026 select <a href=\"https:\/\/my.monmouth.edu\/fyi\/Pages\/Student-Employee-Discounts.aspx\">Student Discounts<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"your-personal-computer\">Your Personal Computer<\/h2>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Personal computers purchased within the past four years and meet the following recommendations:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Current Windows or macOS computer<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>16GM RAM, 512GM SSD<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Extended Warranty program from manufacturer or store of purchase (Geek Squad Protection, All-State, etc.) or AppleCare can be valuable and highly recommended.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Antivirus: Current and active Malware Protection Software (t<strong>his is critical for protecting your device).<\/strong><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The University does <strong>not<\/strong> provide insurance nor cover losses for theft or damage of personal electronic devices.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"printing\">Printing<\/h2>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Printing is available to all students in the University computer labs:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Stafford Student Center provides 24-hour access to computers and printing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Library, open during Library hours.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Instructions for installing lab printers on a personal computer are available on the <strong>myMU<\/strong> portal, under the section <a href=\"https:\/\/my.monmouth.edu\/fyi\/Pages\/default.aspx\">For Your Information<\/a><strong>&gt;More<\/strong>\u2026 select <strong>Install Lab Printer Drivers &#8211; Windows and Mac<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"remote-learning-resources\">Remote Learning Resources<\/h2>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A link to Remote Learning
