How to Update Your Password<\/h2>\n\n

I. Is your work computer ALWAYS on campus?<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n

To change your password…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  1. Enter your Monmouth email in the username field (username@monmouth.edu<\/em>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Enter your current (old) password<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Enter your proposed new password (password requirements<\/a>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Enter your proposed new password again (to minimize the chance of typing mistakes)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Click the Submit<\/strong> button to submit the change<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. Click the Cancel<\/strong> button to clear the form and start over if necessary<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Please Note: <\/strong>Neither your current (old) nor your new password will be shown in plain text. Your password will be securely encrypted when transmitted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    II. Is your work computer used on and off campus?<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n

    A. Mac Users:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      \n
    1. Connect to VPN (Required only if off campus)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Settings, then click Users & Groups in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. Click the information (i) button next to your username.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    4. Click Change.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
    5. Enter your current password in the Old Password field.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    6. Enter your new password in the New Password<\/strong> field, then enter it again in the Verify <\/strong>field.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    7. Click Change Password<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      B. Windows Users:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        \n
      1. Connect to VPN (Required only if off campus)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      2. Press CTRL-ALT-DEL<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
      3. Select Change a password<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
      4. Enter your current password in the Old password<\/strong> field.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      5. Enter your new password in the New password<\/strong> field, then enter it again in the Confirm password <\/strong>field.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      6. Press or click Enter<\/strong> to submit.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n

        Don’t Remember Your Password?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n

        To reset your password, call 732-923-4357 (HELP) or visit the Help Desk located on the 3nd<\/sup> floor of the Edison Science Building for in person assistance. Make sure you have your University ID card.<\/p>\n\n\n

        Password Requirements<\/h2>\n\n\n

        Passphrase: <\/strong> A sequence of words, phrase, or sentence that is easy to remember but more secure than a password.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          \n
        • For example:  A song verse or a movie quote<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

          Your new passphrase is required<\/strong> to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            \n
          • Contain at least 15 characters<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Contain characters from three of the following four categories:\n
              \n
            1. English uppercase characters (A through Z)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            2. English lowercase characters (a through z)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            3. Base 10 digits (0 through 9)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            4. Non-alphabetic characters (for example, !, $, #, %)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            5. Not contain the user’s account name or parts of the user’s full name that exceed two consecutive characters<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

              Your new passphrase should not<\/strong> be:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                \n
              • Based on your pet’s name, your friend’s name, birthdate<\/li>\n\n\n\n
              • Based on words commonly affiliated with Monmouth University, such as Hawks, Shadow, Monmouth<\/li>\n\n\n\n
              • Based on your Gmail\/Facebook account name or password<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
