Dear Student Veterans,
Welcome to Monmouth University!
For veterans and current members of the armed forces, there is a transition period from active military life to campus life. While life as a student can be exciting, veterans face the unique challenge of moving from a discipline-rich environment to a less structured lifestyle. That, in tandem with the usual pressures of starting with a new school and making new friends, can create stress and anxiety. It is also not uncommon for returning veterans to face challenges that may include more severe mental health issues such as post-traumatic stress disorder, substance abuse, and overall issues with reintegration.
Soldiers are resilient and adaptive, and Monmouth University is dedicated to offering veterans the tools they need to overcome their obstacles. Whether you are reaching out today for help, or it’s been months or years since military discharge, know there are plenty of resources.
