The Monmouth University Global Education Office and ISA Study Abroad collaborate to offer our students a semester program in the dynamic city of Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina. This is Monmouth’s first semester-long study abroad program in Latin America, and we are excited to present this opportunity to our campus community! ISA Study Abroad is a well-established international education organization with onsite personnel committed to helping students with meaningful academic and cultural activities, 24/7 health/wellness support, and opportunities to prepare for lifelong global citizenship. The Monmouth in Buenos Aires program is a great opportunity to represent the university in a new part of the world, improve your Spanish language skills, and gain insight into our southern neighbors that will help enhance opportunities in Life after Monmouth.
In the Buenos Aires program, you can choose from a range of liberal arts and social science courses in subjects like business, communication, political science, English and more. Learn more about Argentine culture through hands-on experiences and hone your Spanish language skills in and out of the classroom. Designed for all levels of Spanish language ability, this versatile program allows you to choose electives taught in both English and Spanish that mesh with your interests.
The program features an “early start” approach to education abroad learning, so that students can take advantage of their Argentine surroundings. Students will be registered in placeholder courses initially that will fall-off after the Add/Drop period of the host institution abroad.
Monmouth students will live in local homestays with carefully-vetted families during the program. Practically all homestay families who host North American study abroad students have hosted students before, and they understand that university students in the United States are accustomed to having a great deal of freedom in their comings and goings. The families are there to provide support, insight, and encouragement throughout the semester, and more often than not, students feel like they have a second set of parents and siblings at the end of the semester. So when in Buenos Aires, you will live like the locals do with other Monmouth University students.
Fast Facts: Program offered in spring and fall. It is a cosmopolitan city with colorful neighborhoods, shops and restaurants. Students will be placed with an Argentine host family that provides 2 daily meals and weekly laundry service. Host families support students throughout the program and allow for a full immersion experience. Students take 2 Spanish classes to satisfy CD/GU requirements plus cultural, business and history classes are also provided. On-site staff support, welcome & farewell events, transport pass & wellness and cultural activities are included.
