Shuttles to West End and Shop Rite/Bed, Bath and Beyond

Get to know your new classmates by checking out the local West End area together with a number of Monmouth favorite eating spots. You can also do some shopping for things you need, forgot, or to coordinate your new room’s look. Shuttle will run in a continuous loop.

Shuttles to the Beach and Target

Leaves from Student Center Lot
Take a ride to enjoy the beach at Pier Village in Long Branch or enjoy a day of shopping at Sea View Square where you will find Target, At Home, Five Below, Marshalls, Homesense, Sierra Trading Post and more! Shuttle to the beach runs continuously. Shuttle to the Sea View Square area leaves campus at 10:00am, 11:30am, 1:00pm and 2:30pm. Times may vary slightly due to traffic.

New Student Orientation

Outdoor Movie CRUELLA

Bring a blanket and join us under the stars for an outdoor showing of Disney’s hit movie CRUELLA, telling the story of the early days of this notorious villain. Rain? No problem, the show must go on. Join us at Pollak Theatre instead.

Comedian DJ Demers

Pollak Theatre
D.J. Demers is a funny guy who happens to wear hearing aids. He has performed on Conan, was a fan favorite on season 11 of America’s Got Talent, and is a regular performer at the prestigious Just For Laughs festival in Montreal, Canada.

Commuter Lunch/ID Pickup

First-year commuter students can pick up their Monmouth University ID and grab a complimentary lunch. Commuter Student Mentors will also be on hand to talk about the CSM program for anyone who may still be thinking about request a CSM for the fall semester. The Office of Off Campus and Commuter Services will also have some additional handout and giveaways. We hope you can join us!

Suicide Prevention Day Event

September 10 holds a special place as it is National Suicide Prevention Day. Join the community in sharing your story, your resource, and your reasons that keep you thriving in life. Stop by the table, write down the one thing that is most important to you and worth living for, and add it to the wall of worth. Follow the evolution of it on social media and see all the people, activities, hopes, and dreams that keep the Monmouth community going.

Intercultural New Student Social

Silent Headphone Disco

Under the stars! Launched in the UK in 2007, Headphone Disco are the originators of the ‘silent dance party’ format and have been taking their show to colleges, schools, festivals and nightclubs around the world for the past 10+ years. Never been to a Headphone Disco before?Here’s how it works:

  • Arrive at the event and take a pair of our awesome wireless headphones.
  • Two DJs set up and spin two different styles of music side by side. One DJ might be spinning top 40 while the other is spinning the latest in hip hop. To the same dancefloor. At the same time!
  • Guests select their DJ of choice using a toggle switch on our headphones and get busy on the dancefloor.
  • Guests can switch backwards and forwards between each DJ during the course of the event.

Now what have you got? One half of the dance floor moving to one beat, while the other half gets down to a completely different soundtrack.

Saturday, September 11

Campus Bells Toll for 9/11 Remembrance

In honor of our country and in remembrance of all those who lost their lives, there will be a tolling of the University bells for two minutes at the following times:

  • 8:46 am: AA Flight 11 was flown into the World Trade Center North Tower.
  • 9:03 am: AA Flight 175 was flown into the World Trade Center South Tower.
  • 9:43 am: AA Flight 77 was flown into the Pentagon.
  • 10:10 am: UA Flight 93 crashed in Somerset County, PA after heroic actions by passengers and crew.

Members of the Monmouth University community who are on campus are invited to observe a moment of silence at these times.

At noon the University bells will ring out our National Anthem.
