GPA not required during the fall term)<\/li>\n<li><strong>6 Sophomore Senators<\/strong> (Overall GPA of 2.75 or better)<\/li>\n<li><strong>6 Junior Senators<\/strong> (Overall GPA of 2.75 or better)<\/li>\n<li><strong>6 Senior Senators<\/strong> (Overall GPA of 2.75 or better)<\/li>\n<li><strong>4 Senators At-Large<\/strong> (Overall GPA of 2.75 or better)<\/li>\n<li><strong>2 Commuter Senators<\/strong> (Overall GPA of 2.75 or better)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span class=\"TextRun SCXW61451282 BCX8\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW61451282 BCX8\">To run for one of the above noted positions, not including First Year Senators during their selection in fall semester, a student must have an overall <strong>GPA of 2.75<\/strong> or better and be in good standing with the University.\u00a0 First-Year Senators are selected through an interview process during the fall term.\u00a0 Since they do not yet have an official GPA, they are not required to show one during the fall semester.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"TextRun SCXW61451282 BCX8\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW61451282 BCX8\">SGA also has a President, Vice President, and Cabinet. Students who wish to run for President or Vice President <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW61451282 BCX8\">are required to<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW61451282 BCX8\"> serve within SGA for one full year, be in good standing with the university, serve for one (1) full semester as a committee chairperson or <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW61451282 BCX8\">Cabinet member, and carry a cumulative <\/span><strong><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW61451282 BCX8\">GPA<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW61451282 BCX8\"><strong> of 3.0<\/strong> or better.<\/span><\/span><span class=\"EOP SCXW61451282 BCX8\" data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:2,&quot;335551620&quot;:2,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:279}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"TextRun SCXW191252598 BCX8\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW191252598 BCX8\">There are 7 Cabinet positions within SGA including: Attorney General, <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW191252598 BCX8\">Director of Access &amp; Inclusion, Director of Finance, Director of Programming, Director of Public Relations, Director of University Affairs, and President Pro-Tempore. The<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW191252598 BCX8\"> Cabinet is appointed by the President and Vice President<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW191252598 BCX8\"> and each Cabinet member oversees two SGA committees<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW191252598 BCX8\">.\u00a0 Students or Senators who are appointed to a cabinet role must also maintain an overall <strong>GPA of 3.0<\/strong> or better.\u00a0 Cabinet members who were appointed by the President and Vice President but were not elected by the student body do not have voting rights within SGA.<\/span><\/span><span class=\"EOP SCXW191252598 BCX8\" data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:2,&quot;335551620&quot;:2,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:279}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>First Year Senator Program<\/h2>\n<p><span class=\"TextRun SCXW214675701 BCX8\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW214675701 BCX8\">During the first few weeks of September, SGA will interview all first-year students who applied to the First Year Senator Program. This program is open to any new, first-year student. Unlike a traditional election, first-year candidates will <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW214675701 BCX8\">submit<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW214675701 BCX8\"> an online application and be asked to sign up<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW214675701 BCX8\"> for an interview with the Senate.\u00a0 \u00a0First Year Senators are not required to have a University GPA during their fall semester, however, they must maintain an overall <strong>GPA of 2.75<\/strong> or better when the spring term begins.\u00a0 After SGA has met with all the candidates, six are chosen to <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW214675701 BCX8\">represent<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW214675701 BCX8\"> the <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW214675701 BCX8\">first-year<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW214675701 BCX8\"> class in the Senate for the academic year. These new Senators are given a mentor from SGA who will help guide them throughout their first semester in SG<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW214675701 BCX8\">A.<\/span><\/span><span class=\"EOP SCXW214675701 BCX8\" data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:2,&quot;335551620&quot;:2,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:279}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Open Seats During the Academic Year<\/h2>\n<p><span class=\"TextRun SCXW62471811 BCX8\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW62471811 BCX8\">If there is ever an open seat that needs to be filled, SGA will hold an open, general election to fill the seat(s) in the fall. If a<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW62471811 BCX8\"> seat becomes open after the fall general election, SGA will <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW62471811 BCX8\">solicit<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW62471811 BCX8\"> candidates and hold interviews during an SGA meeting. Those seats are filled by a <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW62471811 BCX8\">simple<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW62471811 BCX8\"> majority vote (50% + 1)<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW62471811 BCX8\"> of the voting members of SGA.<\/span><\/span><span class=\"EOP SCXW62471811 BCX8\" data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:2,&quot;335551620&quot;:2,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:279}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Spring General Election<\/h2>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">During the spring semester, SGA will hold its annual general election where every seat on SGA is open for the next academic year.
