The program is designed to provide guidance and support to the new students.<\/p>\n<p>Incoming first-year students who are interested in running for one of the 6 first-year Senator vacancies are asked to complete a f<span class=\"fresh\">irst-year Senator<\/span> application before the fall selection process closes in mid September.\u00a0 Applicants will take part in an interview with members of the SGA Election Committee during the first few weeks of the fall term.\u00a0 After SGA meets with all of the applicants, they will select 6 students to serve as First-Year Senators for that academic year.\u00a0 One of the\u00a0 <strong>requirements<\/strong> of being selected as a first-year Senator means taking part in the overnight fall retreat that is typically held off-campus at an away camp in late September.\u00a0 The 2025 Fall SGA Retreat will be held <b>Saturday, October 4th &amp; Sunday, October 5th<\/b> at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.trailsendcamp.com\/\">Chestnut Lake Camp<\/a> in Beach Lake, <span style=\"color: initial\">Pennsylvania.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: initial;font-size: revert\">An important part of the first-year Senator program are the upperclassmen from SGA who are paired up with the new members. They serve as mentors providing guidance and support as they learn their way around SGA.
