Michelle Scott is an Instructor in the School of Social Work. She holds a Ph.D. and MSW from the University of California–Berkeley. Her dissertation examined the effects of behavioral health managed care on youths' involvement with the juvenile justice system. She earned her BA in Psychology from Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts.
She will be teaching the undergraduate and graduate research methods courses. Other teaching areas include statistics, adolescent mental health, and school social work.
Areas of interest include adolescent depression, adolescent suicide prevention, school-based screening, mental health services and financing, college mental health, and initiation of alcohol use by adolescents. Current research includes evaluation of the preparation of high school students with mental health problems and the transition to college.
