{"id":17506,"date":"2023-08-18T12:13:05","date_gmt":"2023-08-18T16:13:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/school-of-science\/?p=17506"},"modified":"2025-12-12T15:56:28","modified_gmt":"2025-12-12T20:56:28","slug":"inclusive-stem-teaching","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/school-of-science\/2023\/08\/18\/inclusive-stem-teaching\/","title":{"rendered":"Inclusive STEM Teaching"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\n\n\n<p>The School of Science commitment to inclusive teaching was embodied this year as 17 faculty and 2 administrators participated in a faculty learning community dedicated to inclusive teaching. The learning community was supported partially by a grant from the <a href=\"\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/diversity-and-inclusion\/diversity-innovation-grant-program\/\">Monmouth Intercultural Center<\/a>. The community was centered around and online course on inclusive STEM teaching funded by the National Science Foundation on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inclusivestemteaching.org\/\">Inclusive STEM teaching <\/a>and included other meetings for faculty to share their experiences. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Faculty reported that the course helped them connect with more of their students and be confident in using more inclusive teaching techniques. &nbsp;The &nbsp;School of Science also instituted a teaching award for both as single class and &nbsp;for whole courses or syllabi that had been modified for inclusive and equitable teaching.&nbsp; Drs.
