Professor Brittany Khan is the Director of the Center for Speech and Language Disorders. She joined the department of speech-language pathology at Monmouth University in 2018.

Prior to her role at Monmouth, Professor Khan provided services to adults and pediatrics in the acute-care and outpatient settings. Professor Khan earned her B.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) from Stockton University followed by a M.S. in CSD from Seton Hall University. During her time at Seton Hall, Professor Khan developed a passion for evaluating and treating complex swallowing disorders, specifically in individuals with head and neck cancer. She holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) issued by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA). Additionally, Professor Khan is a Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLD), is McNeill Dysphagia Therapy Certified (MDTP), and has been awarded the ASHA ACE Award for continuing education 3 times (2016, 2018, and 2019).

Professor Khan is a member of the New Jersey Speech-Language Hearing Association’s higher education committee, the Dysphagia Research Society, and the Council of Academic Programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CAPCSD). Professor Khan’s current research interests include, clinical supervision in higher education, Rett Syndrome, gender-affirming voice treatment, and dysphagia. She has presented peer-reviewed poster sessions at the national level during ASHA’s annual conference. Professor Khan is a member of the advisory board for the Program for Research and Support for Rett Syndrome and is a member of Monmouth University’s Interprofessional Education Committee.

In her free time, Professor Khan enjoys chasing around her 3-year-old niece Brenna and long walks with her dog Mellie.
