Hawk Safety Alert 2011-04

PoliceBanner3

The Monmouth University Police Department received a report of a possible sexual assault which occurred in a residence hall early Sunday morning. Two students, a male and a female, returned to campus from an off-campus location together. The male offered to walk the female back to her residence hall. Once back in the residence hall the male allegedly sexually assaulted the female.

The MUPD is reminding all students to be careful when you go out socializing with others. Students should also take caution when inviting someone to walk them back to their room. Incidents of sexual assault occur more frequently when drinking alcohol is involved. We want to urge students when socializing and going out with friends that you agree to keep an eye on one another, be alert, and take steps to protect yourselves.

The MUPD urges anyone who believes he/she or a friend has been the victim of a sexual assault to immediately contact the MUPD at 732-571-4444. Victims of any form of sexual assault are encouraged to seek confidential support at the Department of Counseling and Psychological Services at 732-571-7517.
