MU Offers New Doctoral Program

Following review and approval by the faculty and the University Board of Trustees earlier this year, in June the New Jersey Department of Higher Education approved MU’s proposal to offer its second doctoral program, the Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership. The Ed.D. curriculum was created under the leadership of School of Education Dean Dr. John Henning, Dr. Harvey Allen, and education faculty, with partnership from area K-12 principals and superintendents. This new doctoral program will focus on developing innovative leaders who can design, implement, and institutionalize transformational education practices for K-12 students.

Regardless of the industry, market demand drives graduate programs, and Monmouth’s new Ed.D. is a prime example. We worked closely with the Monmouth County Superintendents’ Roundtable to develop the program and several of the principals and superintendents will serve as teaching faculty and dissertation mentors for the inaugural class this fall. Roundtable President, and former Superintendent for the Hazlet Township School District, Dr. Bernard Bragen will join MU this September as a professor in the School of Education and Program Director for the Ed.D.
