Giuseppe M. Fazari, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Department of Criminal Justice, recently co-authored \u201cFundamentals of Modern Court Administration<\/a>\u201d (Routledge, 2026). The book provides a comprehensive and practice-grounded framework for understanding and leading modern courts as complex public institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“\u201cIt is gratifying to see this work, which began in 2016, come to fruition. I am particularly indebted to the scores of judges, court administrators, and court staff whose support, insights, and experiences were instrumental throughout the development of this publication,” Fazari said. “Their contributions helped ensure that the book reflects the realities, challenges, and opportunities facing today’s courts, and I am hopeful that it will serve as a valuable resource for current and future generations of court leaders and professionals.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the book, Fazari and his co-authors integrate decades of court management literature with their professional experience to bridge the gap between theory and practice. The text systematically examines strategic planning, leadership, court culture, caseflow management, budgeting, operations, human resources, technology, community engagement, and stakeholder collaboration, all anchored in the purposes and responsibilities of courts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Designed for students, judges, administrators, and policy leaders, the work serves as both an instructional guide and a professional reference for advancing effective, ethical, and resilient court administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFundamentals of Modern Court Administration\u201d was co-written with Marcus W. Reinkensmeyer, dean for the Institute for Court Management Fellows Program, National Center for State Courts, and Alexander B. Aikman, former executive of the National Center for State Courts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
