Corey Dzenko, Ph.D., associate professor of art history in the Department of Art and Design, is scheduled to present \u201cHaruka Sakaguchi and Marvin Heiferman: Photography and Living Through the COVID-19 World,\u201d at the international symposium Air Matters: Air and Environmental Health in the (Post-) COVID-19 World<\/a>, hosted by the University of Vienna on Nov. 21.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dzenko will deliver her presentation during the \u201cFlash Talk: Pandemic Frames: Histories, Spaces, Impacts\u201d portion of the conference, which is currently scheduled for 9:30 to 10:20 a.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI am excited to be able to share my work about the social uses of photography, specifically within the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, with a larger audience. Tatiana Konrad, who is organizing the event, has become a key contributor to the field of Environmental Humanities, now with multiple book projects and symposia. It’s wonderful to be able to present my scholarship to a growing group of scholars, and I am grateful to Konrad for inviting me to participate,\u201d Dzenko said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In her presentation, Dzenko explores the ways Sakaguchi, documentary photographer, and Heiferman, curator and writer, used the practice of taking and sharing a photograph online each day to cope with living through the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Air Matters will celebrate four years of successful collaboration in the project \u201cAir and Environmental Health in the (Post-) COVID-19 World,\u201d and revisits one of the key concerns of the project: how air shapes and is shaped by human activity, perception, and imagination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
