Physician assistant (PA) student Uroosa Anwaar recently received the Graduate Merit Award for 2024<\/a>, from the Executive Women of New Jersey (EWNJ). She is one of 11 recipients of the annual scholarship, which recognizes nontraditional graduate students attending New Jersey colleges and universities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EWNJ defines nontraditional as those who returns to their studies several years after receiving an undergraduate degree, complete their undergraduate degree at a later age, change careers and return to school to retool, or come from a nontraditional educational or socioeconomic background. Anwaar shifted her career from a senior analyst focusing on reforming government healthcare to working directly with patients, helping transform their health while encouraging them to be their own advocates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI am grateful to have been a part of the journey at Monmouth that has helped fulfill my dream of becoming a future healthcare provider to truly bring a difference in people\u2019s lives,\u201d Anwaar said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a third-year PA student currently in the clinical phase of her studies, Anwaar serves as the diversity chair for the University\u2019s PA program. Before attending Monmouth, she earned her bachelor\u2019s degree in biology with a minor in psychology, as well as a master\u2019s degree in public health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EWNJ<\/a>\u2019s mission is to ensure that women have equal opportunities and representation in senior corporate leadership. The Graduate Merit Award Program<\/a> seeks to establish a pipeline for future women leaders to excel and flourish in corporate spaces.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
