Campbell, Ph.D., professor in the Department of History and Anthropology, authored a chapter in the recently published book, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.psupress.org\/books\/titles\/978-0-271-09729-9.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Speaking Words of Wisdom: The Beatles and Religion<\/a>.\u201d The book offers a comprehensive exploration of the Beatles\u2019 connection to religion, drawing on philosophy, cultural studies, music history, and religious studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Campbell wrote the third chapter titled, \u201cThe Religious Sensibility of Paul McCartney,\u201d which explores McCartney\u2019s evolving religious perspective and serves as an introduction to Part Two, \u201cThe Beatles as Individuals.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c\u2018Speaking Words of Wisdom: The Beatles and Religion\u2019\u201d brings together diverse perspectives on how one of the most influential bands in history intersected with themes of faith and spirituality,\u201d Campbell said. \u201cContributing the chapter was a deeply rewarding experience, allowing me to explore the nuanced ways McCartney&#8217;s music reflects his spiritual journey. This book highlights the profound and often overlooked connections between popular culture and religious thought, offering readers new insights into the enduring legacy of The Beatles.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to discussing McCartney\u2019s religious sensibility, Campbell examines his fear of death and general discomfort with the topic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Campbell has taught multiple courses on the Beatles and Bruce Springsteen at Monmouth University, as well as Medieval Europe, postwar Britain and Ireland, the Reformation, and the Renaissance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEvery history program really needs a \u2018Renaissance scholar,\u2019 a professor whose intellectual curiosity is wide and ever-growing: that\u2019s Ken Campbell.
