Monmouth University\u2019s Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) program conducted its inaugural Capstone Symposium in the Guggenheim Memorial Library on May 5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Members in the Class of 2024 showcased 21 research studies that were developed over the course of three years during their academic careers. The presentation content included orthopedic treatments, mindful practice and wellness interventions, the use of virtual reality technology, and OT advocacy in Vietnam, among other topics. Members of the historic cohort strived to find ways to continue improving the delivery of care to future patients through the dissemination of their studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Graduating student Kayla Coleman described the event as \u201cA great opportunity to showcase unique projects that will influence how future practitioners provide services.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many of the students were eager to share their appreciation for the capstone event experience and the staff involved, including the event directors, Doctoral Capstone Coordinator Andrea Garcia, OTD, MSW, OTR\/L, and Department Chair John R. Patro, Jr., OTD, OTR\/L. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Graduating student Joseph Motto shared his gratitude by stating, \u201cHaving an event to demonstrate what we\u2019ve all worked so hard on makes this opportunity even better than it already is. I can\u2019t thank everyone who put this together enough because the experience is even better than expected!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After an incredibly successful Capstone Symposium, the OTD program is eager to continue supporting its students in future research endeavors and careers dedicated to helping others. Research project descriptions and student e-portfolios are available online.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n
