Twenty-three Monmouth University nursing students were recently honored at the 34th<\/sup> induction ceremony of <\/sup>Sigma Theta Tau, the international honor society of nursing<\/a>, on April 7. The event, hosted by the Department of Nursing, welcomed undergraduate and graduate students into the Lambda Delta Chapter of Sigma<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recent inductees include Bridgette E. Blumetti, Avery R. Cergol, Alondra Elena Church, Morgan L. Copestic, Shannon K. Danulevith, Sarah E. Datesman, Natalie P. DeRose, McKayla S. Dottery, Gabriella N. Falcone, Toniann V. Fragiglio, Sophia A. Gelfond, Alyssa M. Gordon, Grace P. Jordan, Naja J. Morgan, McKenna G. O\u2019Sullivan, Nadine L. Paretzky, Kimberly A. Principato, Gabriella Ricottone, Angelina Scotto, Devare E. Shepard, Emily Steffens, Shelly Storzum, and Alexis Wexler.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Criteria for student membership includes a commitment to academic excellence. Undergraduate nursing students must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0, while graduate nursing students must maintain a GPA of 3.5 or greater.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ceremony also marked the announcement of a newly elected Lambda Delta executive board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Patricia Sciscione, Ph.D., RN, CSN, associate professor, will assume the role of president, while Beth Gough, MSN, RN, CNE, specialist professor and director of the BSN program, was named vice president.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Current nursing graduate student Devan D\u2019Aloia, BSN, RN, will serve as the newly appointed secretary; Joan Raso, MSN, RN, CHSE, specialist professor, will take over as treasurer; Erica Sciarra, Ph.D., DNP, RN, RPN, AGNP-C, CNE, assistant professor and nurse educator program coordinator, will serve as the leadership succession chair; and Giuseppina Pagnotta, DNP, RN, NCSN, Ped-BC, adjunct professor, will be the new governance committee chair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sigma Theta Tau has more than 100,000 active members and 600 chapters at institutions of higher education and health care partners around the world. Lambda Delta became a chapter of Sigma Theta Tau in 1990 and currently has 250 active members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
