Emily Ferris, a senior biology student, received an award for presentation excellence at the meeting of the Mid-Atlantic Pharmacology Society<\/a>, a subset of the American Society of Pharmacology and Therapeutics <\/a>(ASPET) serving the tri-state area. Two recent biology graduates, Ilona Maczka ’23 and Nicholas Pillarella ’21, contributed to the work Ferris presented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hosted annually by one of the Philadelphia-area medical schools, the conference presents awards in three categories: undergraduate student, graduate\/medical student, and postdoctoral trainee. Ferris has been doing research for the past two years with Dennis Rhoads, Ph.D., professor of biology. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I am proud of Emily and the skills she showcased in earning this recognition. She is a terrific ambassador for Monmouth and for our work in the neuropharmacology of drug and alcohol abuse,” said Rhoads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ferris’ poster presentation, “An Animal Model for ADHD with Resistance to Alcohol-induced Changes in Forebrain Receptors and Behavior,”<\/a> was one of only two presentations recognized with awards in the undergraduate category, and the abstract of her work will be published in the ASPET journal, “The Pharmacologist.” <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
