Lisa Dinella, Ph.D., professor in the Department of Psychology, Kiameesha Evans, Dr.PH, specialist professor in the Department of Health and Physical Education, and alumnae Jordan A. Levinson \u201915, a doctoral candidate at the University of California, Los Angeles, and Samantha Gagnon \u201923, an undergraduate psychology student at the time, co-authored a study published in the Journal of Social Issues, Volume 79, Issue 3<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The study, “Women Disproportionately Shoulder Burdens Imposed by the Global COVID-19 Pandemic<\/a>,” was also conducted in collaboration with the Monmouth University Polling Institute<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMonmouth University set the stage for collaboration with scholars from all across campus, with the end goal of using science to make the world a better place \u2026 The results can be used by policy makers to support community members during times of disaster,\u201d Dinella said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She went on to mention, \u201c[We] all worked together to better understand women\u2019s experiences during the pandemic and how gender, race, and socioeconomic status were intricately tied together \u2026 It was all unfolding as we were studying. We were trying to live this and study it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dinella additionally served as the primary editor of Issue 3, and co-edited with Megan Fulcher, Ph.D., Washington and Lee University, and Erica S. Weisgram, Ph.D., University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. She also contributed as an editor on The Journal of Social Issues, Volume 79, Issue 2<\/a>, with Fulcher and Kingsley M. Schroeder, Ph.D., Springfield College.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
