For the eighth consecutive season, the Monmouth University Bowling team earned National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) All-Academic honors, the organization announced July 11. In addition, seven of the eight rostered student-athletes were named 2022-23 NTCA All-Academic scholar athletes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The NTCA recognizes NCAA bowling teams that excel academically each year. To garner recognition, programs must finish the academic year with a cumulative team GPA of 3.2 or higher and be a current member of the NTCA. Out of 42 qualifying team, the Hawks finished second in the nation with a 3.742 mark, trailing only Youngstown State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, the NTCA recognizes student-athletes who finish the academic year with a cumulative GPA of 3.4 or higher as NTCA All-Academic scholar athletes. Seven of the 285 total student-athletes who qualified in 2022-23 are from\u00a0Karen Grygiel<\/a><\/dfn>‘s squad.\u00a0Skylar Smith<\/a><\/dfn>\u00a0was recognized for a team-leading fifth time in her career, while\u00a0Mafe Aguiluz<\/a><\/dfn>,\u00a0Jenna Lehrer<\/a><\/dfn>,\u00a0Jamie Phelan<\/a><\/dfn>,\u00a0Sierra Poole<\/a><\/dfn>,\u00a0Siyah Sweeny<\/a><\/dfn>, and\u00a0Desir\u00e9 Villalobos<\/a><\/dfn>\u00a0also received honors for their hard work in the classroom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
