Schmidt, S. Meyer, A. Stone, R. Crotty<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The geometric sculptures by Meyer&nbsp;are constructed of wood, acrylic, paint, and mixed media. Ambient light catches the colorful panes of acrylic in \u201cPlinth,\u201d an impressive 5\u20195&#8243;h x 9\u20195&#8243;w sculpture that includes smaller pieces reminiscent of scholars\u2019 rocks. Also on view are Meyer\u2019s geodesic orbs composed of acrylic and wood polygons.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to curator Hawley, \u201cthe Flinn Gallery is in its 94th season and has exhibited greats from Picasso to Pollack, Matisse to Motherwell. In the 1960\u2019s and 70\u2019s, the Gallery (then known as the Hurlbutt Gallery) curated a series called Mr. &amp; Mrs. Hirshhorn Select: Art for the Young Collector where renowned artists priced their works from $25-$500; the artist list is over 100 names long and includes: Josef &amp; Anni Albers, Jean Dubuffet, Al Held, David Hockney, Alex Katz, Louise Nevelson, Ad Reinhardt, Edward Ruscha, George Segal, Frank Stella. The Gallery is fortunate to occupy a stunning space designed by Cesar Pelli within a state-of-the-art library where we host related programming.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;GLOW&#8221;&nbsp;opens Thursday, Feb. 9, from 6-8 p.m., with a reception open to the public. During the six-week exhibit, programming includes:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>a pre-recorded&nbsp;&#8220;GLOW&#8221; Artist Talk with Rita A. Fucillo, associate publisher, Art New England, available online Feb. 16;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fritz Horstman, education director, Josef &amp; Anni Albers Foundation, will discuss<em>&nbsp;<\/em>&#8220;Josef Albers, Interaction of Color&#8221; while making connections with the artworks in&nbsp;&#8220;GLOW<em>,&#8221;&nbsp;<\/em>Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. <a href=\"https:\/\/greenwichlibrary.libcal.com\/event\/9834527\">Register now<\/a>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>additionally, on March 3, the Flinn Art Lounge will be open from 5-6:45, prior to the 7 p.m. showing of the documentary film:&nbsp;&#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/greenwichlibrary.libcal.com\/event\/10248697\">Beyond Visible: Hilma af Klint<\/a>&#8220;;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>after the film,&nbsp;Max Rosenberg,&nbsp;art historian and associate director of research and exhibitions, David Zwirner Gallery, will discuss his contribution to the 2023 exhibit,&nbsp;&#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.davidzwirnerbooks.com\/product\/hilma-af-klint-tree-of-knowledge\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Hilma af Klint: Tree of Knowledge<\/a>.&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The Flinn Gallery, located on the second floor at 101 West Putnam Avenue, Greenwich, CT, is funded and sponsored by the Friends of Greenwich Library.
