Works by two professors from the Department of Art and Design are included in the show, Sequence, which is now on display at the Touchstone Gallery in Washington, D.C. Sacred Boards<\/em> by Associate Professor Kimberly Callas (CNCed Oak, Ground Pigment, Shellac, Wax 45 x 10 x 3 in), and the 3D printed stop motion animation Boom -> Bust<\/em> by Associate Professor Wobbe Koning, were selected for the juried exhibition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the exhibit organizers, Sequence is the result of an international open call inviting artists to submit works created with, or influenced by, technology, noting, “art can be created with order or disorder; a plan or in chaos. Technology-based art can embrace or ignore process in new and intriguing methods.” The resulting exhibition includes a gallery show, a virtual show, and a series of performances featuring 44 artists from 14 states (plus the District of Columbia), Scotland, and Japan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The opening reception is Saturday, Jan. 21 from 4 to 7 p.m., and the show will be up through Feb. 20. If you do not have the opportunity to see the works in person, you can visit the virtual gallery on the gallery’s website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
