Richard Veit, Ph.D., professor of anthropology and associate dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, will present \u201cGovernor Lewis Morris\u2019 1742 Kitchen and Other Archaeological Findings\u201d at the William Trent House Visitor Center on July 24 from 2-3:30 p.m. The event is free, but registration is required.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the presentation, Veit will be joined by Hunter Research\u2019s Richard Hunter and Jim Lee to discuss, display, and describe some of their findings from a recent excavation on the Trent House property. He will also discuss ways the historic treasure can inform our understanding of the lives of all those living and working on the plantation at the Falls of the Delaware in the 18th<\/sup> century.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2014, Hunter Research was commissioned by the Trent House Association to conduct a preliminary excavation, which successfully uncovered evidence of the building\u2019s foundation. Since then, additional structures and artifacts have been discovered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Veit has held numerous archaeological digs at the Trent House, including digs conducted by Monmouth University students that were featured on the PBS and NJTV show, \u201cDrive By History<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Visitor Center is located at 15 Market St. in Trenton, across from the Hughes Justice Complex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
