Monmouth University is proud to announce its Fulbright recipients for 2022-23. Brittany Scardigno \u201921M and Jennifer Stolte \u201918 \u201922M have been offered Fulbright U.S. Student Program awards for English Teaching Assistantships for the 2022-23 academic year from the U.S. Department of State and the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.<\/p>\n
As Fulbright participants, Scardigno and Stolte will study, conduct research, and teach abroad for the 2022-2023 academic year through the Fulbright U.S. Student Program. Recipients of Fulbright awards are selected in an open, merit-based competition that considers leadership potential, academic and\/or professional achievement, and record of service. As Fulbright alumni, their careers will be enriched by joining a network of thousands of esteemed alumni, many of whom are leaders in their fields. Fulbright alumni include 61 Nobel Prize laureates, 89 Pulitzer Prize recipients, and 40 who have served as a head of state or government.<\/p>\n
Scardigno, of Neptune, will service students in South Korea and focus on building confidence in their linguistic identity. She will guide students to become effective communicators, within a wide variety of audiences, through mock interviews and speaking with professionals in their desired areas of study. Scardigno earned a master\u2019s degree in English from Monmouth University in May 2021.<\/p>\n
Stolte, of Parlin, will service students in Galicia, an autonomous community in Spain, where she will participate in a multilingual educational system that teaches Spanish, English, and the Galician native language, Galego. She plans on implementing experiential education by getting students outside of the classroom and lecturing while walking through town. Stolte holds a bachelor\u2019s degree from Monmouth University in secondary education and foreign languages and earned her master\u2019s degree in education from Monmouth in January 2022.<\/p>\n

Since 1946, the\u00a0Fulbright Program<\/a> has provided more than\u00a0400,000\u00a0participants from\u00a0over\u00a0160 countries the opportunity to study, teach and conduct research, exchange ideas,\u00a0and contribute to finding solutions to shared\u00a0international\u00a0concerns. The primary source of funding for the Fulbright Program is an annual appropriation by the U.S. Congress to the U.S. Department of State\u2019s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
