Golam Mathbor, Ph.D., professor in the School of Social Work, recently published his article “50 Years of Promoting Scholarly Understanding Between Bangladesh and the USA<\/a>,” in the Bangladesh Pratidin, a daily newspaper in Bangladesh.<\/p>\n

Mathbor\u2019s piece covers the diplomatic relationship between Bangladesh and the United States and was published in English, in the newspaper\u2019s North America edition, issued out of New York City.<\/p>\n

In the article, Mathbor explains the increase in Bangladesh studies in the U.S. and the rise in recognition of the American Institute of Bangladesh Studies (AIBS). He also touches on his personal experiences of promoting scholarly understanding between the two countries while in positions of leadership, as AIBS president for two consecutive terms and as a member on the Board of Directors for the Council on American Overseas Research Center (CAORC).<\/p>\n

\u201cBangladesh and the U.S. marked the celebration of the 50 Years of Diplomatic Relationship on April 4, 2022, and I was invited to contribute an article and published in the North American edition of the Bangladesh Pratidin. I am very honored and humbled. I hope the new leadership will take AIBS and the bilateral relationships to a new height,\u201d Mathbor said.<\/p>\n

The Bangladesh Pratidin is one of the highest circulated daily newspapers in the Bangladesh capital, Dhaka, and in additional Bangladesh cities. AIBS is a consortium of institutions of higher learning in the U.S. aimed at promoting scholarly understanding between the two countries, while CAORC is a nonprofit federation of independent overseas research centers that promotes advanced research, particularly in the humanities and social sciences.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
