Juliana Londo\u00f1o, a graduate student in Professional Counseling, was the recipient of the 2022 Emerging Leaders Grant from the American College Counseling Association (ACCA). She was the only master’s level recipient of the award at the annual conference in Las Vegas, NV, this past February.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

“As a Latina, first-generation graduate student, and immigrant, I am honored to represent my identities and have this opportunity to learn outside of the classroom. This is one of the highlights of my final semester at Monmouth. I would not have had this experience if it wasn’t for my support system, Dr. Delaney, site supervisors, mentors, and my mom,” said Londo\u00f1o.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

“This conference inspired me to continue my work and efforts with the college population. Now more than ever, college students need and deserve mental health access. I am incredibly passionate about my students and will continue to advocate in any way possible,” she said.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The ACCA annual conference gathers diverse mental health professionals working in higher education from across the country. This year’s keynote speaker was Thema Bryant, Ph.D., incoming president-elect of the American Psychological Association.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Londo\u00f1o will be graduating in May 2022 and aspires to work as a counselor at a college or university. She wants to work with first-generation college students, students of color, and those with disabilities as a Licensed Associate Counselor. Londo\u00f1o currently works as an Intake Specialist in the Counseling Center at Mercer County Community College.
