Monmouth University\u2019s Institute for Global Understanding (IGU) has launched a new monthly podcast, IGU Voices<\/a>, which will showcase interviews with scholars, experts, and students from all disciplines who contribute to our understanding of the world around us.<\/p>\n

IGU Director Randall S. Abate credits Anna Gwiazda \u201921<\/a>, a graduate student in Monmouth\u2019s Master of Social Work program and IGU intern, with being the founder and host of the project. Gwiazda worked alongside faculty members in the communication and art and design departments to bring the project to fruition.<\/p>\n

In the first episode, “The Pursuit of Global Peace: Words of Wisdom from His Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama<\/a>,” Gwiazda interviews Rehka Datta, professor of political science and sociology and Freed Endowed Chair in Social Sciences, and Joanne Jodry, assistant professor of professional counseling, about their years-long effort to invite the Dalai Lama to speak at Monmouth University.<\/p>\n

The new podcast fits within the IGU\u2019s mission to promote cultural literacy and citizenship through academic and arts programs, interdisciplinary research and events, community partnerships, and service at the local and global levels.<\/p>\n
