Although the Ocean County Historical Society (OCHS) remains closed to the public, it is resuming its lecture series online with \u201cA Great Place to Eat or Drink: Cedar Bridge,\u201d which will take place on March 7 at 2 p.m. The lecture will feature a visit to Cedar Bridge Tavern in Barnegat with guide Sean McHugh.<\/p>\n

McHugh is a senior archaeologist at a cultural resource consulting firm, adjunct professor at Monmouth University, and co-director of the Archaeological Field School of Monmouth University. He has over 17 years of experience in archaeology and historic preservation.<\/p>\n

The circa-1816 Cedar Bridge Tavern was bought by the Ocean County Parks Department in 2007. The Ocean County Cultural and Heritage Commission describes it as \u201ca historic treasure that offers a unique window into the European experience in the New Jersey Pinelands.\u201d McHugh conducted numerous Monmouth University affiliated archaeological investigations there in advance of the county\u2019s improvement project.<\/p>\n
