Amanda M. Stojanov, M.F.A., assistant professor of digital media in the School of Communication, is one of 24 artists whose work is being featured in a New Art City virtual exhibition that reconsiders cyberfeminism.<\/p>\n

A joint initiative by the College Art Association and New Media Caucus, \u201cUnbounded Unleashed Unforgiving: Reconsidering Cyberfeminism in 2021<\/a>,\u201d is part of a multimodal exploration into cyberfeminism that delves into the many ways artists and scholars are actively engaging in contemporary methods of cyberfeminism as practice today.<\/p>\n

Stojanov\u2019s work, \u201cI am real, 2020<\/a>,\u201d is an original interactive animation built entirely with code and sound. The code analyzes the frequency of the sound and then uses the data to determine the intensity and colors of the graphics. The audio is a recording of a voice whispering to itself intimately.<\/p>\n

A media artist whose work has been featured nationally and internationally in venues such as the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles, and Ars Electronica, Linz, as well as publications including “Artillery” magazine, “The New York Times,” and The Associated Press,\u00a0<\/i>Stojanov strives to investigate how innovations in communication technologies affect perceptions of identity, agency, and visibility, as well as their emphasis upon concepts of embodiment and the “historically constituted body” within a networked-society.<\/p>\n
