But even back when the brothers came of musical age in Hoboken, their interest in American roots music was deep and strong. It was only natural that they’d wind up in Nashville and that their music contain elements of country, folk, roots rock, and Jersey soul.”

“Working with the Delevantes is always fun,” said Tallent. “Their taste in music is very similar to mine, so we always seem to hit it off, whether we’re playing live, which, unfortunately isn’t a lot these days, or in the studio.”

Born and raised in Rutherford, New Jersey, brothers Bob and Mike Delevante moved to Nashville in 1992, integrating themselves into the city’s thriving songwriting community. It was in Nashville where they met another transplanted New Jersey musician, E Street Band bass player Garry Tallent. The Delevantes and Tallent shared common musical interests and forged a relationship that continues today. Contributing production ideas in the studio and playing bass in The Delevantes band when not on the road with Bruce Springsteen, Tallent brings an added dimension to The Delevantes’ sound, a wonderful balance of roots music with seamless Everly Brothers-like harmonies.

About BSACAM: The Bruce Springsteen Archives and Center for American Music at Monmouth University serves as the official archival repository for Bruce Springsteen’s written works, photographs, periodicals, and artifacts.
