Third-year physician assistant (PA) students from Monmouth University joined PA professionals and students from around the country in New York City on Oct. 7 outside of NBC’s “Today” show for the annual “PAs on the Plaza” event.\u00a0 The American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) and the Student Academy of AAPA encouraged attendees to bring their white coats and celebrate the profession as part of National Physician Assistant Week held Oct. 6-12 each year.<\/span><\/p>\n

The purpose of National Physician Assistant Week is to provide opportunities to recognize the contributions of the PA profession and its impact on the nation’s health. The week also acknowledges the profession’s founder, Eugene A. Stead, Jr., MD., who was born on Oct. 6.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the PA profession is predicted to grow by 30% between 2014 and 2024, making it one of the fastest-growing job sectors in the country.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Monmouth’s graduating classes of 2017 and 2018 each had a 100% pass rate on the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination (PANCE).\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
