For 50 years, the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) has worked to maintain its role as the leading catalyst for excellence and innovation in nursing education, research, and practice, with a\u00a0mission to educate the nursing workforce to be able to meet the challenges of contemporary practice.\u00a0The Marjorie K. Unterberg School of Nursing and Health Studies at Monmouth University is proud to be an AACN member school since 1999, and\u00a0joins AACN in\u00a0celebrating its 50th anniversary<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Over the years, the University has contributed to AACN with leaders and faculty serving on committees and task forces, participating as speakers at AACN\u2019s conferences and webinars, advocating for federal support for nursing education, and contributing to the advancement of professional nursing education.<\/p>\n

Monmouth University is particularly proud of its State Grass Roots Liaison (SGL) efforts of which Janet Mahoney, dean of the School of Nursing and Health Studies, is one of three New Jersey liaisons; and the AACN Graduate Nursing Student Academy (GNSA) Student Collaboration Community composed of more than 40 Monmouth University students. Students have ready access to resources from AACN on leadership, education, and health policy topics.<\/p>\n

AACN is the voice of academic nursing for 825 member schools of nursing at public and private universities nationwide, representing more than 530,000 students and 45,000 faculty members. AACN establishes quality standards for nursing education, influences the nursing profession to improve health care, and promotes public support of baccalaureate and graduate nursing education.<\/p>\n
