Monmouth University students from Professor Jiacun Wang’s course “Embedded Software” will give a demonstration of their “dancing robot” team projects on May 5, from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., in the robotics laboratory in Edison Hall, room 153B. The students programed AmigoBots, a small differential-drive robot, to do a dance routine to songs including “Single Ladies” and “Who Let the Dogs Out.”<\/p>\n
The introductory course of embedded software systems teaches students the fundamentals of embedded and real-time software technology. The dancing robot assignment provides students with hands-on experience in designing and implementing small-scale embedded and real-time software.<\/p>\n
The robotics laboratory at Monmouth University was designed with the help of Visiting International Scholars in the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering (CSSE) Ma Bo and Bin Hu, who are professors in the School of Computer Science at Xi’an University of Posts and Telecommunications (XUPT) in Xi’an, China.\u00a0 XUPT is one of Monmouth University’s partner institutions.\u00a0 Bo and Hu worked with CSSE faculty to enhance the positioning and navigation system of the robotics laboratory.<\/p>\n
