Byrne served in the position in 2011-2012 and former Chief Justice of the New Jersey Supreme Court James Zazzali served in the role last year.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Governor Whitman&#8217;s deep knowledge of the issues and her extensive experience are invaluable,&#8221; President Paul R. Brown of Monmouth University stated.\u00a0&#8220;They will bring a &#8216;real world&#8217; perspective to our students in particular and the Monmouth community in general.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Governor Whitman served as NJ&#8217;s 50th Governor from 1994 to 2001.\u00a0She entered the Statehouse as New Jersey&#8217;s first woman governor, the second Republican woman chief executive in any state, and the thirteenth woman governor in American history.\u00a0 As Governor, Whitman&#8217;s agenda focused on three central policy areas: economic growth, good schools and safe streets.
