{"id":32212264040,"date":"2011-11-29T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2011-11-29T05:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/news\/mu-social-work-graduate-student-assists-newark-hospital-in-obtaining-grant\/"},"modified":"2019-04-24T09:42:26","modified_gmt":"2019-04-24T13:42:26","slug":"mu-social-work-graduate-student-assists-newark-hospital-in-obtaining-grant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/news\/mu-social-work-graduate-student-assists-newark-hospital-in-obtaining-grant\/","title":{"rendered":"MU SOCIAL WORK GRADUATE STUDENT ASSISTS NEWARK HOSPITAL IN OBTAINING GRANT"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Monmouth University is proud to announce that Alison Hoffman, (Marlboro, NJ) who received her Master of Social Work degree in May 2011 worked with the staff of Newark Beth Israel Medical Center Foundation to successfully secure funding for a grant proposal submitted to the Toys\u201cR\u201dUs Children\u2019s Fund for its New Jersey grant initiative.<\/p>\n<p>While completing her Grant Writing course with Dr. Henry King at Monmouth University, Ms. Hoffman served as a social work intern at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and was able to work with the staff of their foundation office to submit a grant proposal called the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Patient Family Transportation Project. The project is designed to improve children\u2019s long-term developmental outcomes and strengthen families by providing bus tickets to those parents otherwise unable to visit their hospitalized babies.<\/p>\n<p>The Toys\u201dR\u201dUs Children\u2019s Fund announced last week that they will be funding $15,000 toward the project in response to the 2011 New Jersey grant initiative. Newark Beth Israel Medical Center Foundation was one of 54 organizations selected from a pool of more than 500 proposals from charities from across the state requesting funding. More information is available online about Toys\u201dR\u201dUs, Inc. charitable giving and the Toys\u201dR\u201dUs Children\u2019s Fund.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the Toys\u201cR\u201dUs Children&#8217;s Fund\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Toys\u201cR\u201dUs Children\u2019s Fund is a public charity affiliated with Toys\u201cR\u201dUs, Inc., a company that unabashedly declares \u201cWe love kids!\u201d The core mission of the Toys\u201cR\u201dUs Children\u2019s Fund is to keep children safe and help them in times of need. Since it was founded in 1992, the Toys\u201cR\u201dUs Children\u2019s Fund has contributed millions of dollars to qualified organizations that support that mission, including those providing disaster relief to children and families who are victims of large-scale crises. The Toys\u201cR\u201dUs Children\u2019s Fund also provides grants to leading organizations that support children with special needs. Primary fundraising activities include the annual Toys\u201dR\u201dUs Children\u2019s Fund Gala, a private, invitation-only event that showcases the work of the fund and raises money to support its many beneficiaries.
