{"id":32212263902,"date":"2012-04-11T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2012-04-11T04:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/news\/critically-acclaimed-documentary-gen-silent-to-be-screened-at-monmouth-university\/"},"modified":"2012-04-11T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2012-04-11T04:00:00","slug":"critically-acclaimed-documentary-gen-silent-to-be-screened-at-monmouth-university","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/news\/critically-acclaimed-documentary-gen-silent-to-be-screened-at-monmouth-university\/","title":{"rendered":"CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED DOCUMENTARY \u201cGEN SILENT\u201d TO BE SCREENED AT MONMOUTH UNIVERSITY"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text\"><strong><em>Gen Silent<\/em><\/strong> is the critically acclaimed documentary from filmmaker Stu Maddox that asks six LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) older adults if they will hide friends or spouses their entire lives in order to survive in a care system that is often oppressive, discriminatory and, at times, abusive.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text\">This film puts a face on what social work and health care experts call an epidemic of older LGBT adults going back into \u201cthe closet\u201d in order to receive needed services as they age.
