Unterberg School of\u00a0 Nursing and Health Studies, The Center for Professional Development in Nursing and Health, will present a twelve hour Spanish for Health Professionals course during March, April, and May.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text\">Twelve contact hours will be provided.\u00a0 The Center for Professional Development in Nursing and Health is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the New Jersey State Nurses Association, an accredited approver, by the American Nurses Credentialing Center\u2019s Commission on Accreditation.\u00a0 Provider number: P242-4\/09-12.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p class=\"text\">This course is designed to expand basic Spanish conversational skills to enhance vocabulary used in the healthcare setting. Thematic conversational practice will focus on the medical history, health and medical scenarios. Key terms that are used in medical and informational forms will be highlighted.\u00a0 The course will be taught primarily in Spanish and a light dinner will be served.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text\"><strong>Topics will include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"text\" >\n<li>Vocabulary related to the clinical setting<\/li>\n<li>Medical procedures and clinical terminology<\/li>\n<li>Cultural competency<\/li>\n<li>Mock medical history interviews<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"text\">It is recommended that the participant have some basic knowledge of Spanish.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text\"><strong>Presenter:<\/strong>Dr. Sevi Avigdor was born in Lima Peru and earned his medical degree from the Complutense University of Madrid Medical School in Spain.\u00a0\u00a0 He has served as the Chief of at Gastrointestinal Surgery at Monmouth Medical Center and currently has a private practice in Long Branch NJ.
