Degrees"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cSt. George\u2019s University joined forces with Monmouth University so that we can both positively address the physician and veterinarian shortage and help the state of New Jersey educate and train well-qualified professionals truly prepared to practice 21st\u00a0\u00a0century health care,\u201d said Charles R. Modica, chancellor of St. George\u2019s. \u201cThese new students will join the over 1500 New Jersey students and graduates who matriculated at St. George\u2019s since we were founded 35 years ago.\u201d<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cMonmouth University is very pleased to partner with St. George\u2019s to provide pathways for our students to move seamlessly from B.S. degree programs into M.D. or D.V.M. programs\u201d noted Michael A. Palladino, dean of the School of Science at Monmouth University.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>With today\u2019s joint announcement, St. George\u2019s in Grenada, West Indies, and Monmouth in West Long Branch, New Jersey, introduce combined B.S.\/M.D. and B.S.\/D.V.M. degrees. Students admitted to this combined degree program complete their undergraduate degree in Biology or Health Sciences at Monmouth University in four years, and upon meeting established admission criteria, progress into St. George\u2019s University School of Medicine or School of Veterinary Medicine. Qualified medical students will be eligible to complete the first two years of study in Grenada and the final two of this combined program in clinical rotations at affiliated hospitals in the United States or the United Kingdom. Qualified veterinary students will be eligible to complete the first three years of veterinary study in Grenada and their final clinical year at affiliated veterinary schools in the United States, Canada, Australia or Ireland.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>&#8220;After visiting St. George&#8217;s campus, I knew that Monmouth University students would benefit from a great medical or veterinarian education there. The campus and island are beautiful and the faculty is top notch,\u201d stated Dr. Bernadette Dunphy, co- director of the pre-professional health advisory committee at Monmouth University.\u00a0\u201cStudents will have the opportunity for residences and to practice in all the states after graduating from St. George\u2019s.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>In addition to the Monmouth University partnership, St. George\u2019s maintains partnerships in the United States with the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT)\/Albert Dorman Honors College, St. Michael&#8217;s Medical Center, Caldwell College, Franklin Pierce University, University of Sciences, and Widener University.
