The education services company features the school in the new 2014 edition of its annual college guide,<em>The Best 378 Colleges<\/em>(Random House \/ Princeton Review).<\/p>\n<p>Monmouth University President Paul R. Brown said: \u201cWe are thrilled to be named one of the best colleges in the nation by The Princeton Review for the ninth straight year. It\u2019s affirming to see that our commitment to personalized education and academic excellence is being recognized.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Only about 15% of America\u2019s 2,500 four-year colleges and only four colleges outside the U.S.A. are profiled in the book which is The Princeton Review&#8217;s flagship college guide. It includes detailed profiles of the colleges with rating scores for all schools in eight categories, plus 62 ranking lists, each with 20 schools from the guide, based on The Princeton Review&#8217;s surveys of 126,000 students attending the colleges.<\/p>\n<p>Robert Franek, Princeton Review&#8217;s senior vice president and author of <em>The Best 378 Colleges, <\/em> said: \u201cMonmouth University offers outstanding academics, which is the primary criteria for our choice of schools for the book. We base our selections primarily on data we obtain in our annual institutional data surveys. We also take into account input we get from our staff, our 35-member National College Counselor Advisory Board, our personal visits to schools, and the wide range of feedback we get from our surveys of students attending these schools. We also work to keep a wide representation of colleges in the book by region, size, selectivity and character.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In its profile on Monmouth University, The Princeton Review states, &#8220;The school\u2019s national stature is on the rise, resulting in a more competitive applicant base\u201d and quotes extensively from University students who were surveyed for the book. Student comments include &#8220;[Monmouth University is] a small school that\u2026provides an excellent community-like atmosphere,\u201d and professors are \u201cvery accomplished and have impressive backgrounds\u201d and \u201ctruly care about helping their students succeed.&#8221; In addition, one student said that he knows \u201cmany Monmouth University alumni, and all have loved their experience. They say MU prepared them for their careers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a &#8220;Survey Says&#8221; sidebar in the book&#8217;s profile on Monmouth University, The Princeton Review lists topics that Monmouth University students agreed with the most. The list includes: \u201cgreat library\u201d and \u201cathletic facilities are great.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Princeton Review does not rank the colleges in the book academically or from 1 to 378 in any category. The 80-question survey asks students to rate their own schools on several topics and report on their campus experiences.
