The Met: Live in HD<\/em>, the Metropolitan Opera\u2019s award-winning series of live high-definition cinema simulcasts, will begin its 14th season on October 12, with the Met\u2019s production of Puccini\u2019s Turandot<\/em>, starring Christine Goerke<\/strong> in the title role, led by the Met\u2019s Jeanette Lerman-Neubauer Music Director, Yannick N\u00e9zet-<\/strong>S\u00e9guin.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 2019\u201320 Live in HD<\/em> season features ten transmissions, including five new productions: the Met premiere of Philip Glass\u2019s groundbreaking 20th-century opera Akhnaten, starring Anthony Roth Costanzo<\/strong> as the title pharaoh, conducted by Karen Kamensek<\/strong>; Peter Mattei<\/strong> in the title role of Berg\u2019s Wozzeck, in a new staging by acclaimed visual artist and stage director William Kentridge<\/strong>, conducted by Yannick N\u00e9zet-S\u00e9guin<\/strong>; a new production of the Gershwins\u2019 classic American opera Porgy and Bess<\/em><\/strong>, last performed at the Met in 1990, starring Eric Owens<\/strong> and Angel Blue<\/strong>, directed by James Robinson<\/strong> and conducted by David Robertson<\/strong>; the Met premiere of Handel\u2019s Agrippina<\/em>, starring Joyce DiDonato<\/strong> in a contemporary staging by Sir David McVicar that <\/strong>promises to resonate with modern audiences; and a new take on Wagner\u2019s Der Fliegende Holl\u00e4nder,<\/em> starring Sir Bryn Terfel<\/strong> in the title role.<\/p>\n

In addition to Turandot <\/em>and the five new productions, Live in HD audiences will have the chance to see Massenet\u2019s lush French masterpiece Manon<\/em>; the return of Anthony Minghella\u2019s inspired vision of Puccini\u2019s Madama Butterfly<\/em>, with Pl\u00e1cido Domingo<\/strong> as Sharpless; Anna Netrebko<\/strong> in the title role of Puccini\u2019s Tosca; and Diana Damrau<\/strong> and Jamie Barton as the dueling queens of Maria Stuarda<\/em>, the second opera of Donizetti\u2019s Tudor trilogy.<\/p>\n
