The Center for the Arts at Monmouth University<\/strong> has announced that tickets are now on sale for an exclusive area appearance by award winning \u201cmystifier\u201d Mike Super<\/strong><\/a>, in a live display of \u201cMagic and Illusion<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Scheduled for Thursday, October 11 at 8 p.m. the one-night engagement is presented as part of the 2018-2019 Performing Arts Series at Monmouth. In addition to marking the campus debut of the performer whose patented blend of stage magic and all-ages comedy saw him achieve top honors on NBC-TV\u2019s \u201cPhenomenon,\u201d the event also serves as a showcase for the Pollak Theatre<\/strong>. Recently renovated with an enhanced stage area and upgraded seating, the flagship performance space at Monmouth is newly equipped to accommodate the sort of scale and spectacle promised by a show of \u201cSuper\u201d proportions.<\/p>\n

From live murder-mystery games, mysterious vanishings, demonstrations of \u201cvoodoo doll mind control,\u201d and sudden appearances of motor vehicles and other large objects \u2014 to the outright repeal of the law of gravity \u2014 a Mike Super performance mixes super-sized sleight of hand, classic vaudeville, state-of-the-art stage effects, and a refreshing sense of humor to breathe new life into the musty old lock-box of the traditional magic act.<\/p>\n

A finalist on Season Nine of \u201cAmerica\u2019s Got Talent\u201d and a frequent guest on television talk shows, the young veteran has worked everywhere from colleges, concert halls and casinos, to corporate events, cruise ships, and command-performance tours of military bases. The October 11 date will be part of a major 2018 itinerary that has seen him play to audiences of loyal \u201cSuperfreaks\u201d at venues across North America, including special appearances at NYC\u2019s Madison Square Garden and the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

When it comes to college shows, the celebrated entertainer has been quoted as saying, \u201cthat\u2019s where I started my career\u2026and I\u2019ll never stop doing them!\u201d And, when he materializes on the Monmouth campus, Mike Super will be inviting members of his audience to join in the onstage fun \u2014 while schooling all doubters on how one of the oldest forms of live popular entertainment can continue to inspire and excite standing ovations in an age of video games and virtual reality.<\/p>\n
