Monmouth University welcomed Graham Nash to campus September 23rd. And before his show, the two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and Grammy Award winner sat down with 20 lucky MU students.<\/p>\n

Nash made a name for himself as a member of the English pop\/rock band The Hollies, and continued his music career with the group Crosby, Stills, and Nash. For his show at the Pollak Theatre, Nash stripped away any extravagant production pieces for a humble and honest acoustic session, accompanied only by a fellow guitarist, the occasional piano, and candles twinkling in the background to set the mood.<\/p>\n

During the intimate Q&A with Monmouth students, the vibe was no different. Nash was raw and honest with his answers, about the moment he knew he had \u201cmade it\u201d as an artist, who his personal inspiration is, and his take on today\u2019s world. He spoke about recording an album in 45 minutes at Abbey Road. He spoke about his love of photography, his writing process, and his passion for political awareness and activism. Above all, he challenged students to care about their country and the world, to follow their own passions, and to be involved. Later, in the middle of his set, Nash told the audience how he had noticed a \u201cfire in their eyes.\u201d He even dedicated his next song to them \u2013 a cover of The Beatles\u2019 \u201cA Day In The Life.\u201d <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
