Roger McGuinn

Mr. Tambourine Man not only lived history, he made history with his fearless sense of experimentation. As the leader of the influential 60s group, The Byrds, he was on the leading edge, combining the rock beat of the Beatles with the folk sensibilities of Bob Dylan, to create the genre known as “folk-rock.” Roger’s solo career began in 1973 and has yielded 10 albums, a Grammy nomination, and extensive touring and performing for enthralled audiences ever since.

Douglas Taurel (“Nurse Jackie,” “Blue Bloods”) is the creator and star of the Off-Broadway Award-nominated solo play, “The American Soldier,” based on true events and documentary letters written by veterans and their family members from the American Revolution through current-day Afghanistan. Kiss The Sky- The World’s Greatest Jimi Hendrix Show plays Monmouth University Center for The Arts Pollak Theatre with special guests Heavy Cream’s salute to Cream. This night will be a trip back in Rock n Roll history as it recreates some of the most iconic music of 1968 produced by the two artists who famously turned a rivalry into friendship and mutual admiration for each other.
Favorites from Hendrix’s landmark 1968 album “Electric Ladyland” and Cream’s powerhouse “Wheels of Fire” will highlight the evening.
