The fund is run as a finance course (BF 452\/Hawk Capital). The win makes Monmouth the first university radio station outside the state of California to achieve the honor. \u201cNuestros Sonidos Latinos\u201d has been nominated for the past three years since the category was introduced, making it the only radio show to be consecutively nominated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"debate-hawks-finish-21st-nationally\"><strong>Debate Hawks finish 21st nationally<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n<p>Monmouth University\u2019s debate team wrapped up the 2019\u20132020 season ranked No. 21 overall in the Cross Examination Debate Association (CEDA) national rankings. It was the program\u2019s highest-ever ranking, and put Monmouth ahead of teams from such schools as Georgetown University, Cornell University, Baylor University, and the University of Pittsburgh. The Monmouth University Poll was one of just six to receive a top grade out of 453 polling operations reviewed by FiveThirtyEight, which calculates ratings by analyzing the historical accuracy and methodology of each organization\u2019s polls. This is the fourth straight time the Monmouth Poll has received the top rating from FiveThirtyEight.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"a-virtual-showcase\">A virtual showcase<\/h2>\n\n\n<p>In lieu of an in-person show, graduating art and design students presented the fruits of their creative endeavors virtually this spring. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/department-of-art-and-design\/2020-senior-showcase\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Explore the artists&#8217; creations in animation, graphic design, photography, and studio art<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"bio-department-sweeps-faculty-awards\"><strong>Bio department sweeps faculty awards<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n<p>Associate Professor of Biology Pedram P. But when in-person events were canceled on campus, the Record Club gatherings went virtual. Luckily for fans, the performances did too. Band members have been recording themselves playing individually at home and editing the footage into a virtual group performance. That&#8217;s the band covering Beyonce\u2019s \u201cFreedom\u201d above. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCx7ULianIJ4J9f1mbtrg6jQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Click here to watch their covers of songs by the Beatles, U2, and the Who. <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"model-un-team-wins-big-abroad\"><strong>Model UN team wins big abroad<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n<p>Monmouth\u2019s Model UN Team took home five awards at the King\u2019s College London Model UN competition in February. The event is the largest Model UN competition in Europe, and this year drew teams from 148 universities around the world. While calling Murray \u201ca legitimate political celebrity,\u201d <em>NJBIZ <\/em>went on to say that his \u201ccandor, his experience as a campaign-watcher, and his media-friendly demeanor make him one of the most authoritative voices in politics, both in New Jersey and across the country.\u201d Murray frequently appears as a commentator on national and regional TV and radio, including appearances on various programs at CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, PBS, and NPR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"three-students-earn-prestigious-noaa-scholarships\"><strong>Three Students Earn Prestigious NOAA Scholarships<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n<p>Sophomores Aidan Bodeo-Lomicky, Hannah Craft, and Johanna Vonderhorst were awarded the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration\u2019s prestigious <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/uci\/2020\/04\/08\/three-monmouth-students-earn-prestigious-noaa-hollings-scholarships\/\" target=\"_blank\">Ernest F. Hollings Undergraduate Scholarship<\/a>. Each year, NOAA offers just over 100 of the highly competitive scholarships to students nationwide. The scholarship includes a two-year academic award, a paid summer internship at any NOAA facility nationwide, and funding for the students to present their NOAA research projects at national scientific conferences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"off-the-charts\"><strong>Off the charts<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n<p>Monmouth was named one of the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/news\/billboard-magazine-names-monmouth-university-top-school-for-music-business\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2020 Top Music Business Schools<\/a>\u201d by <em>Billboard<\/em> magazine, one of just 28 colleges and universities to be cited as such by the venerable music publication.
