Today, it\u2019s all about your personal brand, says Cassie Galasetti \u201905, co-founder of Social Sidekick Media, Branding &amp; Public Relations, a boutique social marketing agency based in Spring Lake, New Jersey. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The good news is that maintaining a personal brand isn\u2019t complicated or time-consuming. \u201cCreating a personal brand is simply communicating online what you\u2019re known for,\u201d says Galasetti. \u201cWho you are, what your personality is, what your style is like, and your reputation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anyone can benefit from a personal brand. But Galasetti says that it\u2019s especially important for job hunters. \u201cHaving a personal brand online sets you apart and shows you\u2019re keeping up with the times,\u201d she adds, whether it\u2019s on Instagram, LinkedIn, or your personal blog. \u201cEven for executives who aren\u2019t necessarily looking to make a career move, it sets a good example for current employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ready to get started? Here are Galasetti\u2019s top five tips for building a personal brand.<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"1-be-real\">1. Be Real<\/h3>\n\n\n<p>\u201cNo one wants to work with someone who isn\u2019t genuine,\u201d says Galasetti. \u201cAnd it\u2019s easy to pick up on whether someone isn\u2019t being themselves online.\u201d So get a little personal. \u201cAs long as you keep it professional and appropriate, it\u2019s great to show a picture of your dog by the lake, for example. It shows that you\u2019re an approachable, real person.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"2-be-snappy\">2. Be Snappy<\/h3>\n\n\n<p>\u201cEveryone should be able to sum up their brand or themselves in a few sentences,\u201d says Galasetti. Online, translate this to short photo captions or easy-to-read blog posts. One of Galasetti\u2019s favorite ways to communicate is through short Instagram videos, which can be eye-catching in a sea of photos.<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"3-be-flexible\">3. Be Flexible<\/h3>\n\n\n<p>Personal branding is also about how you behave in person and on the phone. Galasetti recommends a can-do attitude. \u201cGo outside your comfort zone,\u201d she says. \u201cThis is great for a personal brand because you may be able to add new skills to your brand. It also shows that you\u2019re flexible, which is a valuable asset in a co-worker.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"4-be-engaged\">4. Be Engaged<\/h3>\n\n\n<p>Keeping your accounts up to date is key, says Galasetti. \u201cThe more you post, the more likely you are to appear in a web search,\u201d she explains. \u201cPlus, it shows you\u2019re engaged.\u201d Just don\u2019t make it all about you, all the time. Sharing posts from others is a great way to give props.<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"5-be-inspired\">5. Be Inspired<\/h3>\n\n\n<p>\u201cAlways have someone to look up to, even if it\u2019s someone you never met,\u201d says Galasetti. \u201cFollow them on social media. Share their tweets.
